Ever since Denyse Schmidt’s book came out I’ve had it in the back of my mind to make some Big Zig quilts for my bunk bed boys. I’ve picked out colors over and over, figured out dimensions and yardage, just never got around to actually buying fabric and making anything. Well, since the house we were planning on moving into the middle of August, then the end of August, then maybe sometime the beginning of September has just fallen through altogether and I’m living with my parents for another couple of weeks, I needed a project to throw myself into to distract my mind from all the uncertainty that has become my life of late.
I’m making three. Two quilt tops are done, one even has all the quilting lines marked. They should all be ready to baste and quilt in very short order.
So, the moral is– when life throws you lemons, make lots and lots of quilts!!
I’m sorry to hear about your house. Moving is definitely challenging. I’m excited to see how your quilts turn out!
Jess, that’s too bad about the house! I’m sure you’ll be able to find another great one, but what a pain! We’ll be here all of September except Sept 5th-12th, come visit on your way if it still works out. We’d love to see you.
Hi Jessica
I feel very similar to you right now. We can’t move into our house until September 15 and I am tired of living in a hotel. I wish I had my parents to help quiet my fears since the house in Huber Heights is still on the market. But Colorado Springs is beautiful. Perhaps when you guys get settled we could meet up somewhere and go for a hike. It would be so good to see a familiar face. Take care, Sarah x
Bummer about your house. Are you on the market for another one? I hope you find an even better house this time around. (((HUGS)))
What a beautiful quilt – you are so talented!
Obviously you are going to get an even better house as a reward for your patience! Congratulations on the baby news and thanx for the five minute skirt! I really really intend to make a few. Really! LOL
You are missed. Bon chance!
It sounds like your housing situation has been a real trial for you guys. I hope everything works out. Your quilt is beautiful.
Hey girlie,
all I can say is “WOW!” Your belly looks wonderful. Your quilts look amazing. And your life sounds wonderfuly, amazingly, CRAZY.
i feel like a little dudu head for bugging you this way w/ all you got, but it is for the great good of activity days. So i was wondering if you could impart your knowledge to me on how you printed on to the rocks. if you aren’t the one who did this, pleas just disregard the entire 2nd paragraph and know that you are wonderfully amazing. And I miss you, my nomad sis.

Wow – Brenna is as talented as her mom. I’m glad you have an outlet for your time of uncertainty. It’s so nice to know that Heavenly Father is in charge at times likes this (although it would be nice if we could peek into the future occasionally)
