(Okay, i’m having a hard time with my wordpress update. can’t get my picture to be centered and there are some places where I want space between the lines and it just won’t stick. aaauuurrrghh)
Monique tagged me to write 7 things… YiKES
But first I must say that Block Swap sign ups are going very well and I’m excited about the talented quilters I will get to have blocks from If you’ve signed up, look for your name on the right side of the block swap page!
Now, this is because I believe every post should have a picture
here’s some quilt block making inspiration by you know who.
Okay, on with the listing…
7 things to do before I die (in no particular order)
become a yoga teacher
live in another country (or at least visit one)
do another triathalon
have art in a real gallery, and even my own show
have a really cool art studio–with lots of high counters, big sinks, an etching press, easels, a pottery wheel, a couch for sitting and knitting, tables and chairs to sit and work at… you know, a place where I can make anything and everything. where the kids and I can go for school everyday, and maybe other people could visit and I could teach classes, or just hang out and make stuff. i always imagined this in an old barn all fixed up, but after seeing the INCREDIBLE light in Denyse Schmidt’s studio in an old industrial building I may change my dreams. barns don’t have windows.
build a tree house, well, have a tree house. someone else can do most of the building if they want as long as i get to help design it.
make a book– a real book with a story and pictures. write, illustrate, print, bind
7 things I cannot do (in reality, there really aren’t many things I CAN’T do, just things I choose not to do)
so, i guess it really is not humanly possible for me to be, like, an olympic athlete because i’m just not competitive enough to willingly inflict that much pain on myself. slow and steady and think it through at least 20 times before I do it is how i operate.
jump into cold water–extraspecially if it is moving. fast moving cold water, the only kind there is in Idaho, totally freaks me out.
all the laundry in one day like Barry can
wake up more than 1/2 an hour before Jonah
make phone calls, especially to people I don’t know, even if they happen to be the dentist office or the car place, you know, places i need to make appointments too. i have to pump myself up to do these things for at least a day prior.
hear anyone talking to me when I am making something, reading, lost in thought…
7 things that attract me to my mate
his voice– i can’t explain why, but it’s just always been familiar
his eyes– they are big and blue
the shape of his shoulders
his energy, his alway-doing-something-ness
i love that he doesn’t get stressed out or make a big deal about anything– he just does it, and does it well without stewing beforehand. and if it is out of his control– he lets it go.
Oh–this is supposed to be the last one? Yikes–there could be many more. but I must say that I love how good of a dad he is, and that he does laundry and dishes almost every day. VERY ATTRACTIVE
7 books I love
The Book of Mormon
Laddie by Gene Stratton Porter
Sidhartha by Herman Hesse
Harry Potter books
Pride and Predjudice by Jane Austen
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
7 things I say
That is not okay!
aaauurrrgghhh–the frustrated sound, which my mom made too, and my kids make now.
7 movies I’ve loved (I don’t think I’ll be able to think of 7. most of the time when I watch a movie I think “Oh man, that’s 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back!”)
The Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (totally loved it. should have put that series up with the books. hmmm)
Contact (with Jodi Foster and that guy whose like the sexiest man on people magazine, can’t remember his name right now)
Pride and Predjudice (the long BBC version)
Sense and Sensibility
Cry the Beloved Country (with James Earl Jones. should have added that to the book list too…)
Pixar movies (that’ll complete my 7!)
7 people I tag
The first 7 people on the block swap list! (the ones that have blogs of course, so that’s Gina, April, Dayna, Joanna, Jenne, Rachel, and Gwen)
