Attention all who will listen!!

new reader

We have a new reader in the house!  There’s nothing like a new set of BOB books to inspire this 4 year old to read, read, read.  It did help that Brenna and Jonah were at their one day of school this week, so Ian and I were a pretty captive audience for Logan’s new found confidence and skill.

And, it is only natural to document your reading triumphs with stickers and drawings.

They never cease to amaze me, these little people I get to live with.  They learn so readily, so naturally.  It always seems that when I’m up against a wall I can’t see over or around someone just makes it dissolve all on their own.  The job of patience that is mine is often so hard– but it always has its rewards.

The best kind.

  1. I love it. I learned to read with the BOB books. It doesn’t get better than that. I recently went to my son’s open house where he read “with help” from a book. I almost cried. Reading….what a gift.

  2. Yay! That’s great! You’re right, it’s amazing to see how fast they learn and their minds develop. Good job Logan, and you too Jessica! :)

  3. Wahoo Logan! I can’t believe he is getting so big! I must get me those books! Also, which ones did Jonah read that helped his reading take off? Daniel is reading but is in a phase where he isn’t quite motivated to do it on his own. I could use some new material. 😉

  4. Thanks or the info. Jess! I will be looking at the library soon! We’ve actually read almost all of the Magic tree House books this summer. Joseph has been really obsessed with all the Jack and Annie adventures. I thought for sure Daniel would be enthralled enough toread them on his own as well, but he gets too frustrated. I just have to remember what you said and just let him find his own groove in his own time. We have been doing one verse at a time with each of the kids and your’re right–the scriptures really do have a lot of great readable words that repeat so the reading comes along a bit easier. It’s just so exciting to see Joseph off in an adventure that I wish Daniel would be there right now too! What? Patience? Ohhkayy…. 😉

  5. yes! Becca just started reading those too! she surprised me two weeks ago when she and just sat down to look at some easty books she calls them and actaully started “breaking the code” especially after “reading what each letter started each word in that book on the first page she did the rest herself with minimal help! she too is so proud!

hiphip hurray from uncle mark and aunt jean and cousins Jason and Becca to Logan!

  6. That is awesome Logan! I looked up the Bob Books online and they sound great. Sounds like you guys are doing great! Congrats on your, soon-to-be, new little one!
