get away

We ran away to soak up one last summer weekend in the mountains, and since I was wanting rest and relaxation we decided to forgo the tent and sleeping bags and coolers and try something new.

I must admit, though, that my favorite place on our trip was the Craft and Design Center.

Big windows, open spaces, shelves and shelves of paint, wood, ceramics– everything you could ever want to make, make, make all day long.  Just the kind of place I dream of running myself someday.  Come in, pick your project, take a class, or just have at it.

Some day.

The kids all painted a wooden toy and loved it.  If only we had had more time…

Next time we go I am totally weaving a basket.

  1. We have been drooling over going to the YMCA on Estes Ranch. How were your accommodations? Were you able to all stay in the same room/suite?

  2. We stayed in a lodge (like a hotel) in two rooms right next to each other. We shared a balcony, but there wasn’t a door connecting our rooms. It worked just fine, though. The three older kids stayed in one room and the babies slept with Barry and I. We would love to stay in a cabin someday, though!

  3. When we lived in Colorado our RS had a retreat at this YMCA. It is so beautiful. I love TRail Ridge Road. Great pictures!

  4. nice! did you look that up on the regular YMCA web site? that would be a really fun idea. do you know if there are any out east?

  5. Love it. I looked at the pictures the other day when Barry posted them on the other site. Wish we were there with you. Dad says, “Look, Hunter has Jessica fuzz!” :-)

  6. The pictures are so beautiful! It looks like there’s a rainbow in the background of one that Brenna is in. :) Beautiful!!

  7. Love the seed pod! RMNP – we had the wonderful opportunity to visit there last summer (2008). And loved it. Maybe another long trip in the future!!!
